Dash Cameras

What is a
dash cam?

A dash cam is a small, discreet camera that is mounted to the front windscreen of a vehicle and faces the road ahead. Once installed, it automatically powers on when the vehicle is running and records your journey, providing continuous video footage while you drive.

Many modern dash cameras also include a parking mode feature, allowing the camera to continue monitoring the vehicle when the engine is switched off. This can record incidents such as impacts or suspicious movement while parked, offering added security and peace of mind.

Why are dash
cams important?

Car accidents are not always clear-cut, and disputes can often arise over who is at fault. Dash cam footage provides reliable, time-stamped video evidence that can be invaluable when resolving insurance claims, helping to clearly demonstrate what happened and protect you against false or disputed claims.

If the dash cam is equipped with a parking mode, it can also record incidents while your vehicle is unattended. This greatly increases the chances of identifying those responsible for damage such as bumps, scrapes, or vandalism when you’re not present.

Dash cam footage is widely accepted by insurance companies, and some insurers may even offer reduced premiums for vehicles fitted with a dash camera, making it a practical investment as well as a valuable safety feature.

Front View Dash Camera

Front View Dash Cameras

Front view dash cameras record everything happening in front of your vehicle, capturing clear footage of the road ahead while you drive. They are an ideal entry-level solution for drivers who want reliable evidence in the event of an accident or incident.

While front-facing cameras provide excellent coverage of what happens ahead of the vehicle, they do not record activity behind you. For drivers who want complete coverage, a front and rear dash camera system may be a better option.

Front and Rear Dash Camera

Front & Rear Dash Cameras

Front and rear dash camera systems record footage both in front of and behind your vehicle, providing comprehensive coverage while driving. This dual-view setup offers greater protection by capturing incidents from multiple angles.

Many road accidents occur at low speeds and often involve rear-end collisions. Investing in a dash cam that records both front and rear views can therefore be well worth the additional cost, helping to provide clear evidence in the event of an accident or insurance claim.

Cabin View Dash Camera

Cabin View Dash Cameras

Cabin view dash cameras record everything happening inside the vehicle, providing an additional layer of security and accountability. These systems are commonly used in taxis, private hire vehicles, and chauffeur services, where recording in-cabin activity can help protect both drivers and passengers.

They can also be useful for shared vehicles, helping monitor usage and provide reassurance in the event of disputes or incidents inside the vehicle.

Ultimate Audio offers a wide range of dash cameras to suit all vehicles, budgets, and requirements.
